- Up-date your fundraising page with a personal photo and message.
- Email all your contacts (work, personal and family) – let them know why you are participating and why you want to raise money for us.
- Contact people through Facebook, or other social media sites.
- Send reminder emails, its amazing how many people simply overlook your first ask but will donate once they receive another email from you.
- Ask for a set amount that is related to your goal (for example, if your goal is $500 say “I only need 20 people to donate $25 each to reach my goal”).
- Start your fundraising by making a donation yourself, and ask people to match that donation. People are more likely to give when they see that you too are supportive of the cause.
- Remind people that all donations are tax deductible.
- Think of a fun way of fundraising. You might want to hold a dinner party and “charge” your friends to attend – let them know that this will be used as a donation to the Heart Foundation.
- Some other fun ways to fundraise include: Garage Sale, Office “bake-off” or Masterchef challenge, Work Sundowner, Karaoke or a Raffle.
- Approach your workplace to see if they will support you by matching any donations you collect from colleagues or by holding a Casual for a Cause free dress day.
